Sono Portside is located in the Portside Hamilton Establishment on the Brisbane Riverfront, only five minutes from the city’s CBD.


DETAILS
Sliding open its rice paper screens in March 2007, Sono Portside is the second restaurant opened by the well seasoned Sono family. This venue is characterised by its immaculate Japanese décor which includes table settings imported from Japan, delicate rice paper sliding doors, water features and bamboo accents. The tranquil interiors are enhanced by views over the Brisbane River. The food is traditional Japanese style, but Sono also offers an extensive international wine list and bistro menu.


FUNCTION DETAILS
Sono Portside offers a range of event spaces, suitable for both intimate gatherings and larger celebrations. The sushi bar and teppanyaki stations are a fun idea for up to ten people. Private tatami rooms can seat up to 36 people, with guests required to take off their shoes and sit on traditional mats, in accordance with cultural custom. Many of these rooms have AV equipment and plasma screens, making them a memorable choice for corporate meetings. The chic, understated Bamboo Space seats up to 60 guests, with room for 40 more for cocktails. There is the choice of a long banquet table (seating 40) or tables of ten (seating 60). Guests have the opportunity to take a tour of Sono’s wine cellar, or for something different, sample some of Japan’s finest sake. Sono’s biggest function room holds 200 for cocktails and 160 seated guests, and is perfect for an opulent sit down dinner or cocktail party. Traditional and modern seating styles are available.




FOOD & BEVERAGE
Sono’s impressive wine cellar boasts 1800 wines sourced everywhere from New Zealand to Nappa. Sono specialises in fabulous authentic Japanese cuisine, offering a diverse range of sushi and sashimi, as well as tailor made bento boxes.

The restaurant menu also includes tempura, vegetarian options and a range of irresistible desserts. Sono’s sushi bars and teppanyaki stations are always a popular choice, and can seat up to 10 people. Sono offers a wine degustation in the Bamboo Space.

Sono Portside offers 250 complimentary car spaces. There is a 24 hours taxi rank available and the ferry terminal is only 900m from Portside Wharf.
